Tangent Wins Award Competing Against Hundreds of Education Products in Annual Awards Competition Sponsored by Media & Methods Magazine
Burlingame, CA — July 26, 2005 - Tangent, Inc., a leading developer of security solutions for education and government, had its spam filtering and network migration products recognized as "cream-of-the-crop" for the education market in Media & Methods magazine’s 2005 Awards Portfolio competition. The awards represent the highest level of excellence in the field of education.

Tangent’s products competed with hundreds of products evaluated by a team of educators who served as judges. In evaluating Tangent’s Spam Filtering solution, judges noted that, "This product offers comprehensive protection by utilizing user-specific rules, keyword scanning, rate controls and a message authenticity check."

Tangent’s Spam Filtering Service won for the category, Internet Filtering & Network Maintenance. Tangent’s solution eliminates up to 99% of incoming spam and e-mail borne viruses. All e-mails are checked for virus and spam content before they reach the school network.

According to Media & Methods, which sponsored the competition, the product review process is rigorous with the focus on purpose, content, documentation and effectiveness. Other judging criteria include: interest level, clarity of educational objectives, user friendliness and overall strengths and weaknesses.
