Tangent Introduces Special Network Migration Packages for Education

Trusted Reseller, Tangent Computer Inc., to Provide Special Network Migration Packages to Educational Institutions.

Burlingame, CA — August 5, 2004 - Tangent, a leading provider of networking and computer services to Education, and a Microsoft Platinum OEM, announced several new migration services tailored specifically to Educators. Tangent provides a full range of Microsoft-equipped PCs, notebooks, and servers along with value-added services tailored to the needs of Education. “Educators who are upgrading their older Microsoft Windows NT and Windows 2000 platforms are looking to achieve the maximum gains from their new investment along with minimum pain,” according to company CEO Doug Monsour.

Each network migration requires careful planning and attention to detail in order to produce the desired results. Tangent works with its customers to understand the existing environment, along with the hoped for benefits. A mutually agreed upon migration plan is developed covering the customer’s requirements, as well as Tangent recommendations. This covers migrating both existing and new applications, designing the Active Directory structure, and setting up users. Tangent can increase the efficiency of the district by adding Canopy™ software, to provide electronic portfolios and roster management. Tangent also deploys SIF for both vertical and horizontal reporting, and to enable different software programs to share information. Tangent can perform much of the pre-migration and migration activities remotely to minimize switchover time. “Working almost exclusively within Education, Tangent has come to understand the unique needs of Educators in migrating from legacy systems,” states company COO Mike Zabaneh.

Tangent offers Educators support with ongoing maintenance of Active Directory and Group Policy. For those schools needing help in the tedious chores of adding, deleting, and maintaining users Tangent has developed Canopy™, a set of Student Account Management services. “We have seen examples of numerous schools where a local LAN support person was eliminated leaving Educational LAN users with little or no support. We can design a migration plan that fills that gap in a cost-effective manner,” states Zabaneh. Our customers can embark on a migration with Tangent with confidence, knowing they will get excellent support working with an experienced partner.

Security is another key consideration of those electing to migrate. Tangent offers its migration customers a glimpse of their network security using its PortHawk™ technology, a suite of over 2000 scripts that can be used to test and insure the security of each new migration. “Our job is to make certain our customers end up with the full package of benefits into which they have invested and security is at or near the top of the list for most educators,” states Zabaneh.

Founded in 1989, Tangent is the largest privately-held provider of value added technology solutions to educational institutions across the country, including network security, network integration and migration services, and Active Directory services, and Spam Filtering.
