| Burlingame, CA (November 4, 2002) Tangent Computer today announced the Pillar 2700, a cost-effective 2-way Intel® Xeon network server with support for up to two 2.8GHz Xeon processors.
Tangent's Pillar 2700 packs numerous advanced network server features, including enhanced manageability as well as scalability. The Pillar 2700 is specifically designed to eliminate bottlenecks in data flow and run performance-intensive applications such as Microsoft Exchange 2000 Groupware, Active Directory Services, and accounting packages.
The Pillar 2700 is based on Intel?s powerful new E7500 server chipset. The platform can handle up to 6GB of DDR-266 memory. Two Ultra 160 SCSI channels are standard as well as a 10/100/1000 network interface port and a second 10/100 network interface port. The system includes both 64-bit PCI-X hot-plug slots, and 32-bit 33MHz PCI slots. Base price starts at $2,995 which includes a 1.8GHz Xeon, an 18GB SCSI drive, 1GB of memory, and monitor. The server features a convertible chassis that works for both tower and rack-mount applications. Intel® LanDesk Client Manager is provided along with monitors for temperature, voltage, fan, power supply, intrusion detection and system resource alerts. The Pillar 2700+ is fully redundant with a hot-swap disk-array and power supplies, selling in the base configuration for $3,595. It provides two integrated Ultra 320 SCSI controllers, adds more high-speed PCI-X slots, plus a trio of redundant 250W hot-swap power supplies that provide automatic switch-over in the event of failure. Both models are backed by a limited 3-year parts & labor warranty and a no-charge Server Support program to help reduce TCO.
"The Pillar 2700 offers our customers a reliable, cost-effective solution that translates into productivity," said Tangent COO Mike Zabaneh. Those migrating to Win2K will fare much better than if they struggle add a new OS to an old or obsolete server."
