Tangent Introduces Mobile Intel® Pentium® 4 Notebook
Featuring Integrated 802.11b Wireless

A Lightweight Solution Designed as a Complement to Popular Tangent Mobile, Wireless Classrooms

Burlingame, CA (May 20, 2002) Tangent Computer, Inc., manufacturer of computer systems engineered for education and government environments, today announced the introduction of the Shuttle 6700 notebook computer with integrated 802.11b wireless. The new mobile solution features Intel® Pentium® 4 - M processor-power up to 1.8GHz, with 512K L2 cache and 400MHz Front Side Bus.

The Shuttle 6700’s integrated wireless capability makes it ideal for the company’s line of mobile classrooms that store and recharge 16-, 24- or 36-notebooks. The mobile carts are unique to the education environment and designed specifically for K-12 where one lab can become 10 or more classrooms, enabling more students to access the advantages of technology. An optional 16-notebook charger helps insure that the mobile solution will be readily functional from location to location with a minimum of downtime.

Features of the lightweight Shuttle 6700 (5.72 lb.) notebook include: 14.1” XGA or SXGA TFT display; up to 1.5GB(1) DDR SDRAM memory; 32MB DDR NVIDIA GeForce4 GO® graphics; up to 48GB hard drive and DVD/CD-RW combo drive options; integrated modem/LAN/FireWire® and SmartMedia reader; and generous ports for peripherals and add-ons including an FIR infrared and three USB connections.

The complete line of Tangent products features AMD and Intel® processor-based high-performance desktops, notebooks and servers, as well as mobile, wireless classrooms. Tangent Thin Client networks offer a managed-service technology environment while Remote Management, Network & Support Services help improve network school performance and identify problems before they affect users.
